Vinyls Installed...
Vinyls installed - well sort of...
I started a threadfew days back in reference to the difficulties I had attempting to install BSM 10" pre-cut racing stripes.I basically f**ked up the front bumper pieces the first attempt and quit. After reading several helpful tips from forum members, I decided to give it another shot with the pieces I had left. So last night, I gave the rear bumper/deck lid a try. I DID IT!!! It came out great...
So anyway, I have replacement pieces on the way from BSM on the wayand have one more question. How do you remove the windshield washer nozzles??? Don't they just "pop" out??? I want to know for sure before I try...

Been there, done that.
You dont have to remove the cover that goes under the hood, you can slide your hand under it, the nozzles are just there, pretty close, had to disconnect the hose (this was the hardest for me because the connection is connical so its hard), you have to push it out from both sides of the nozzles at the same time, remove both hoses (actually one that interconnect both) then press the nozzle with your fingers, one at each side and up it has a tab in the front so you have to lift the back side first until it clears and pull it out backwards (to the windshield).

7 months and no bunching. Must be the way the dealerships install theirs.
I can't remember exactly how I removed the nozzles, i know they pop out starting at the back first, so you have to pop one end up first and then pull them out at an angle.

Vinyl under the windshield washernozzles? It will bunch up over time.
Seen it at the dealership all the time.
Cut around them.

I installed my own 10" stipes and had trouble with the front bumper too, but I now know that it was the wrong place to start. I figured I would get my feet wet with the smaller pieces, and that was a mistake. Its also easier to get this part on straighter if you have the hood stripes as a reference point.
I found the trunk lid/spoiler/rear bumper areas to be the trickiest, but I survived.
As far as the nozzles go, let the strip dry thoroughly and carefully cut around the hole with an x-acto knife. I've had no trouble with bunching.
To make matters worse, I installed a very inexpensive kit that was barely "pre-cut"...in fact the entire trink lid was in one piece, which made it a bit of a harrowing experience. I understand that the BSM kits are a bit more well thought out. Also, my front bumper pieces were not cut to go around the license plate...a requirement in my state. The rear spoiler was a bitchy thing also.
Anyway, the vinyl itself was of very good quality, and after a few days of sweating bullets, I striped my car for about 70 bucks.
Many people ask me about it and imply that they might like to "have it done". I cold probably have a nice cottage industry going striping the billions of Mustangs rolling around Watkins Glen in the summer, but I'm not sure I want the tedium.

Then get a BSM kit, don't do what I did, my install got very messy and lasted two nights, the second till dawn. (I had a mustang club track school to teach next day and wanted my car looking good)
For being cheap I initially bought a kit from Revolution Motorsports, very cheap, but they sent the wrong kit, they sent a V6 with no spoiler and in 10" not 12" as I ordered. Mailed, talked with them at the phone, being this far I just got robbed. Then I decided I would go thru the local solution, bought a very nice vinyl locally and made it cut to 30cm rolls. Took us three people and many hours of work, damaged pieces, burns with the heat gun and a lot of pizza to do them. At the end, they are wrong and bad but from a little distance they pass. So I'll keep them for a while (in my terms, a few years, my older stang ran a total of 15000 miles y 15 years
) I'll start saving so in a couple of years I get them painted by the same guy who did my old baby.

My car at the track, setting up the xcalibrator with a wide band sensor.

Another look, the other is a friend's car, is a twin turbo pssssssssssssssssssssst X 2!
