Default Great Mileage Last Night

Last night we left on a 100 mile trip. Filled the tank with 89 octane shell, reset the computer, and nursed her onto the highway whick is almost flat the whole trip. The first 35 miles were done at 55 while letting my brother catch up from7 miles behind. The computer reading climbed to 35.5 mpg at the end of the 35 miles. Intake temps were 74 degrees and no winds. After my brother caught up we jumped up to 80 for the remainder of the trip which brought the mileage down to 24. This was top down all the way also.
I have found that with the stock tune I getthe best mileage on 89 octane. I know most of us did not but these for gas mileage, but it is nice to know that you can do decent on the highway anyways. My stang has 3:31's btw.

I recently took a long trip on the New York State Thruway, and got 29 MPG at 65 MPH...not too bad.

agreed! these cars rock for mileage! I drove from san antonio to san angelo yesterday. Mostly 80, but on a strip of I-10 i knocked it up to 90... A/C was going the whole time... I got 24 MPG!! I filled with 93 octane in San Antonio and I am bone stock... I think there is some truth about these cars getting better mileage with higher octane fuels... I only got 22 MPGon my last trip with 87 octane, same scenario...

I drove to Nashville from Knoxville on not a flat highway. I put cruise on 73 and averaged 26 mpg. Was extremely pleased.

Hell, I've only had my car a little over a week, and I'm very impressed to be getting between 17-18 MPG around town; through the city. For what the car is, I think that's amazing!

Put on along highway trip on cruise and the mileage difference is amazing. Remember, when that light comes on you have 2 gallons of gas left.

In my 04 I drove to NY 1050 miles on 3 tanks(2 3/4 actually) about 29 per gal if I remember correctly.

One other thing dont trust the onboard computer. I still have at least 2 gal of gas when mine says empty.
