Default ROAD NOISE

My wife just got her dream car. 2007 V6 5SP. She loves it!!! I have driven it twice and the road noise is harsh!!! She doesn't seem to mind it, but it drives me nuts. Thinking about putting Dynamat in the trunk first to see if it helps. Much easier than taking out the interior for Dynamat. My son uses Dynamat in his audio installs and swears by it. Anyone else have road noise complaints? What have you done to quiet it down? There must be another product besides Dynamat. It is not cheap.

Thanks, Tony

you must be used to driving a Lexus or a Caddy, because the road noise is not bad in the 05-07s at all in comparison to other 'sports' cars...

go with Dynamat, nothing is as thick or good.

I recently rented a stock conv V6 and didnt notice any road noise. Do you have the stock tires? some tires make a lot of road noise, years ago I put some Good Year F1's on a MB CLK and those things screamed at ANY speed, worse than a gear whine, I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport and problem solved.

The trick is to turn up the radio really loud.

Talk about road noise! I just noticed, when driving on the freeway, that there was a hissing noise that I hear when I drive over those cracks that have been filled in with tar (or whatever they use). I had heard the sound before but thought it was a wind noise or something. But now I know.
So now I need to find out if it's these silly Pirelli's that make the noise or if better tires will cause the same noise.

I agree (although I'm 25, so I sure as hell hope I'm not going deaf yet...haha). I think for a sports car (and I have a convertible) the road noise isn't bad at all. The only place I would like it a little quieter is around the rear fenders. When it's raining I get some road noise from the rear wheels, and when I pass someone on the expressway, it sometimes sounds like I have my "rear" windows rolled down. But I would be afraid that if I did anything like Dynamat I would drown out some of the roar from the exhaust that makes these cars fun to drive.

Change the tires! I don't know what tires the v6's come with, but tires make a big difference. Do some research online at tirerack.com to see what people are saying about the tires you're looking at. My father always buys 80,000 mile tires from walmart and they will always make lot's more noise than a high performance summer tire that you'll only get 25,000 miles out of.
