Default CAI

Here it is, I am new here, been looking and searching all over can't find a definitive answer. I bought my stang used with flowmasters already on. I would like to put a CAI kit on it, for appearance and the added HP. I know I would need a "tune" after that. What is the most bang for the buck in the world of CAI, and do you need to buy the tuner, which I've never used, or can you take it somewhere and have them do it. Lastly is there something that should have been done for the aftermarket exhaust? The mechanical stuff is easy, the programming seems tricky to me.

C&L Racer w/ XCal 2, because of it's 95mm inlet tube and it's quality fit and finish.

I would go with www.evoperform.com or www.brenspeed.com, they both have these packages available for competitive pricing.

Buy an intake and hand-held tuner from one of the vendors mentioned above. Check out the packages they have available and make your decision from there. Any CAI from the vendors above are good. It's the tune and the octane level that will result in more power, shift points etc... not the actual intake (if there is one better than the other, the differnce is like 1 or 2 HP).

What does using one of these tuners entail, and could a possibly screw it up and do more harm than good? Thanks for the help.

you plug in the tuner under the driver side dash..

you pick the octane tune..it loads..then loads your stock tune...pretty easy..

i was scarred at first..but i figured it out...you can to..

Basically you plug in the tuner on the ECM port under the dash, follow the screen prompts about key on, press select etc...Optionally go through 4-5 steps on the tuner touch screen for different adjustments to the base tune you get, then press the program select key and wait a minute. The tuner will count the percentage complete on the screen for you and beep when done and prompt you for the next step. Then follow the prompts on the tuner and unplug it and there you go...tune installed...You do not have to adjust the new canned tune, just install it if you wish.

I recommend trying the canned tune first to get used to the process. Your factory base tune will be uploaded into the tuner memory automatically the first time you use the tuner and it will be stored there for future re-flashes back to the stock tune if you need to do that. So it would be a good idea not to store the tuner with the car or risk losing it, couse it now holds your factory tune.

It is really very easy and near impossible to screw up if you even have half a brain...and if you bought a 2005+ mustang you obviously have more than the average brain power...hehe.

I bought the C&L CAI and X/Cal 2 tuner from Brenspeed.com just a few weeks ago. It only took about 45 minutes to install the CAI and maybe 5 for the tune. It's really easy. Like was said above, just plug it in and it pretty much tells you what to do. I was really happy with the results too. But, you can't really go wrong with any of the packages listed above.

Dont sweat it., place the order wiht Brenspeed and simply have them on the phone while you load the tune. They will totally walk you through it.
