Audio question
I have the Shaker 500 in my GT. Some of you think it's a crappy audio system, but it sounds pretty good to me. I'd like to get an amp and subwoofers, but I really don't want to give up the trunk space. So I was thinking. (dangerous, I know) What would prevent me from installing an amp under the dash or in the engine compartment and using the existing subwoofers in the doors? Maybe replace the speakers, possibly?
Opinions, please. What do you audio guys think of this idea? How would you do it if you think it would work?

U can fasten the amp to the back of your back seat, you will lose no trunk space at all. Also shove a sub in the corner back there and you lose about 1sq ft. No need to be messing with audio in the engine compartment (wont work anyway) or putting it behind the head unit because there is ZERO room back there.
^^+1 here is a sub box you can install in the right corner where your existing subs are at..

I have the Shaker 500, not the Shaker 1000, so there are no subs in the trunk. My subs are in the doors. Or maybe those aren't called subs. Anyway, I don't want to put subs in the trunk. I need all of my trunk space. I'm an amateur musician, and I need to carry several saxophones and other such stuff back there.
Okay, given this condition, what would be the feasibility of putting an amp preferably somewhere else than the trunk, and using either the subs that are already in the door or replacing them with better speakers?

The subs in the door are odd....you can power them any better than they are already and yes you can put different subs in but not many fit. since you dont want to put anything in the in trunk you are pretty much set where you are at.
Bad idea, then, I guess. Oh, well. I have an amp and some speakers that were installed in another car that I was hoping I could use. But I can't spare the trunk space.
Thanks for the help.
