Default Drone

I was just thinking......people say their mustangs have drone and its unbearable and what not.....my mustang has the california emissions thing on the window sticker

1. What is that?
2. Does that silence the mufflers more?
3. Is this why I have NO drone at all in my stang?

Drone comes from certain aftermarket mufflers typically. Not all of them drone, but some do very badly as I've experienced with the Macs myself.

I believe all S197Mustangs made are California compliant(no sense for Ford to make two versions of all 4 models, V-6, GT, Shelby GT, Shelby GT500).

You say you may not have drone because of;
a. You don't know what drone is so you don't realize you have it. (not trying to be an **** here )
b. Your exhaust dooesn't have drone, or has very little drone.
c. Drone does not bother you, there for you do not realize you have it.

Drone is very subjective, it exists in some aftermarketmufflers; some people hate it and others are not effected byt it.
I for one HATE it, my MACS drone like crazy, which is why they are coming off this weekend and the stocks are going back on till I make up
my mind what I want to do.
My MACs are brand new with about 150-175 miles on them, if anyone is interesed in them drop me a PM..

Oh i know what drone is....try having a 4banger s2000 with aftermarket exhaust and headers and then have anyonecomplain about drone at 2k rpms in mustangsLOL. Drone in any 4 banger is everywhere except 5-6th gear crusing and WOT.Any V-8 mustang is beautiful sounding now lol. More than anything iam wondering now is is there a difference in the cali emissions mustangs and the non-cali ones like HP wise or is it all for show of "emissions".

I have the SLP Loud Mouth mufflers on mine and had them over a year. I don't have a problem with the drone. I did have a set of SLP Powerflo mufflers on before and had terrible drone. It gave me head ache almost every day. Alot of people are putting a blanket under the spare tire to help kill the drone and some say it does work. I don't think the Cali emissions are going to keep your car from the drone since it is all exhaust related.
