difference between 3.31 and 3.55
since i might be screwed into keeping my 3.31 gears(long story with my dealer shoulda got 3.55 he is at least sayinhe mightswitchthem). But i case they dont fix it what is the big difference between the two gears? or will it not matter that much?
i know some of you are gonna be like get 410's and be done with it, i wanna keep the warrenty a little while because i only have 1400 miles on it.
Thanks

I wouldnt get 4.10's regardless, but the difference you will see between 3.31 and 3.55 will be minimal at best. If they will change them out for free and keep your warranty then yeah go for it. But it's not worth the hasle or money for it.

RE: difference between 3.31 and 3.55
You will be slightly slower than a comparable Mustang with 3.55's but you'll get slightly better mileage. If you ever plan on upgrading to 3.73's or 4.10's don't bother with the 3.55's for now. There was a post with graphs to show the RPM difference with different rear end ratio's, I can't find it at the moment.
Before I ordered mine I used Gran Turismo 4 to find the difference. I ended up ordering the 3.55's because I'm never going to upgrade to anything else.

If you are that serious about the quarter mile then you should just get the 410s and forget about it......even with a 355 the same or even less modded mustang with 410s will probably have you *** for lunch....

Hey tell the dealer you'll split it with him. You'll pay for the gears if he'll do the install. However, add one caveat, that the gears be 373 or 410. I bet you he'll bite and warranty the work. Hey they have the labor standing there. The real cost for them is the parts (which you'll supply). In the end you get the gears you want they get a happy customer who doesn't feel screwed. You both win. Just make sure you get the exact cost for the parts up front so they don't try to recoupe the labor or profit.

If you can find a dealer thats actually good at rear end work(rare) get genuineFRPP gears since they have a ford P/N and they are the best anyway, and you should be able to keep you warranty. The rear end may be limited to a 12 mo warranty but it shouldn't effect the rest of your vehicle's warranty
