Default convertible owners beware

about three months ago the convertible top assembly on my 05 v6 "broke". i'm still not sure what happened. supposedly there's a tsb out on the problem. the dealership told me they cut ties with the vendor that made the assembly and to date haven't been able to find a replacement top. the last one they found didn't fit. anyone else out there experiencing the same problem? major issue and likely thousands to fix if not covered by warrenty.[:@]

When you say assembly, the frame or the motor?

The '07 top doesn't fit?

I believe it's the frame. The top stuck in the down position and by the time I was able to get it up and secured it had bent several pieces of the frame and broken something as I could hear metal rattling around. Frankly the dealership hasn't been very forthcoming with information.

On the replacement, again the dealership hasn't given much info. They just told me the part they finally got in, the pins did not match up with the holes at the top of the windshield where the top is secured. They also admitted at one point that a replacement may not even exist.

Have you heard of this problem? I'm new to the forum so it may have already been discussed elsewhere.

This is the first for me.

You could post again in the Convertible section under General Tech.
