Too BIG?

RE: Too BIG?
From a pure aesthetics point of view, 20s look great on the 05+ Stangs. From a performance point of view, 20s will rob performance in multiple ways. Weight will increase and you will have to run too low profile of a tire. If you are willing to recal your speedo and run a 40 series or higher tire you could maintain good cornering. When the sidewall of a tire gets too small you will experience "cupping" in hard cornering. Cupping is where the center of the tire will cup because the sidewall refuses to give enough. There are other ways to compensate for this type of problem, but with a stock suspension I think this would become a serious defect in handling. Lowering springs are not going to compensate for this either. This is not a Mustang specific issue, I have experienced this problem first hand. If you've ever cornered hard in a car with a really low pro tire and the car sort of hops around the turn, this is the effect of cupping.

RE: Too BIG?
Tire choice is extremely limited but I really like the 19's on the Saleen Parnelli Jones. (19x9 and 19x10 both with 285/35R19). They just look "Right" on these cars to me. The only thing is on regular cars you are going to have to upgrade the brakes or they are just not going to look right.

Yeah, it's not going to effect handling to a point of loss of control. Only stupid can do that. LOL But, I personally would not own a car with that handling characteristic again. I've already been there and done that. What size tire would you need to run on 19s to maintain stock calibrations?
