Default 05 pinging issue

Little back ground here. 2005 GT, bought used at 43K now has 50K on the dial. Car gets great mileage been running 87 since I bought it. We are having a unusually hot summer. I notice the ping onWOT low RPM(2000K to 2500K) and at peak torque. I just put a tank of shell 93 in to see what the results will be. Far as I know the car had no ECU mods(I have a CL waiting on a tune to go on the car) but I don't want to take one that could be running wrong and throw that at it.

I'm going to try some seafoam(read in another search I did). What about plugs should I change them can anyone think of anything else?

Well, this could be "uncharted territory", as not too many owners have reached the 50K mark yet. As far as I know, "pinging" has always been a fuel/plug problem, combined with a timing problem. However, the ECU automatically adjusts advance/retard on the timing.
Go ahead and change the plugs, add a bottle of fuel system cleaner toa tank of 87 oct, change your air filter (K&N) about 45bux. This should solve the problem

Oh, its just engine knocking...

I didn't google search it because I thought it would give me different results. I thought it was slang on MF.com, kind of like Poopar ©.

I live in Kingsport TN. I just took a errand run at lunch its not quite as hot today but with the 93 in the tank its running fine now. I'm wondering now if maybe this car was traded and had a modded ECU in it possibly?? My car started this about a month ago and I've noticed it more running the AC. Guess there isn't a way to know if its tuned unless I hook it up to a tuner is there.

Try a tank of a tleast 89 or greater octane, that should cure it for a while.
