Default Shifting into 5th gear

i have an 05 v6 5spd, everytime i am shifting from 4th to 5th there is a slight grinding sound, it will still go into gear but it will sort of grind first. i will be on the freeway in 4th gear and when i shift into 5th it will do it everytime, the only way that i can do it so it wont grind is if i let the engine rev down and then shift into 5th, keep in mind that i press the clutch all the way to the floor so its not that the clutch isint all the way in. do your guys mustang do the same or is it something that i should get checked out, its not like super loud but it is noticable to me and to whoever else is in the car with me at the time

I remember reading about something like this before. I think the problem was a bad shaft inside the trans...try doing a search in the 4.0 forum about the trans and see if you find anything that relates to your problem.

don't those come with the borg-warner t5? In the 5.0s those were pretty notorious for smoking syncros, but I don't know if they've improved at all since then...

Have it checked, 4th to 5th should be the about the easiest and there should be no noise. Likely it will get worse if not squared away.

I agree with the syncro issue. It sould be a 3650 trans, not the t5.

But I thought that v6s came with the T5 and v8s came with the tr3650...can anyone confirm this?
