The SVT Cobra is what Ford Racing calls the GT500.

i think he means the GT500, and yes...unless you get the S281E Saleen which puts down 550-525...that would be a race. there are also different levels of saleen just like the roush models.

roush stage 3 makes 415/385 vs saleen S281 S/C makes 465/425

Also the gt-500 has a 5.4 liter forged internal motor, so the sky is the limit on those.

Good question I've always wondered what would be faster the GT 500 or the Saleen S281 Extreme...

Saleen lists the 465hp supercharged '07 model as doing:
0 to 60 --4.6 seconds
1/4 mile -- 12.6 seconds @ 111 mph

I think those are actually slower than most Saleens run, but it could be that Saleen Corporate bases these numbers on 3.55 (stock) gears, not 3.73 (optional) gears. I believe Car & Driver got the '05 Saleen SC (with only 400hp) to do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds. With 3.73 gears, I think you're looking at 0 to 60 in the low 4 second range and the 1/4 mile in the low to mid 12 second range. Replace the 37 lb. chrome 20" wheels with something lighter and put some sticky tires on it and you might have a 4.0 second car...

Car and Driver had a stock GT500 do 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 12.7 seconds.

I have no idea what the Roush numbers are.

The Saleen Extreme (550+hp) is several hundred pounds lighter than the GT500 and has at least 50 more hp. It is probably a sub 4.0 second car and is on another level entirely. Of course, Saleen only makes a few dozen a year and they cost over $80k...

The Saleen E would hand a Stock GT500 his ***. Saw a 281E got 11.78 Stock. I think a GT500 is good for low 12's

No way is the S281E making 3.0 seconds 0-60. Not happening. A Ferrari only just makes that as it has launch contol and a fancy diff.....no way what so ever a mildly modded saleen is doing that. There fast there not that fast though,

Of the 3 though the Roush stage 3 is faster round a track which is more important to me. In a straight line with mods to consider GT500 would be quicker.
