Default GAS Cap Popping

There may be a TSB on this but I haven't had the time to search, so I'm taking a shortcut.

Has anyone had their gas cap come undone causing the warning to come up. My wifes 06 keeps flashing the warning and when we check, the gas cap has been loose.

The cap is getting put on correctly right?
I've seen some that were getting caught on the strap.

+1. I have had mine kind of bind, due to the strap becoming somewhat twisted, or tight, but never to the point of the cap loosening....But I always over click my cap by about 8 turns anyway....Got a warning light once......

Thanks guys... good point, it is the little lady's car after all and it is a classic case of never happening when I drive it or take a look at it, it only happens when she's in the car. Of course she probably won't admit to not putting the cap on correctly.

Try working at a dealership where women (sorry it's true) come in complaining the A/C doesn't ever get cold only because they don't realize the temp **** needs to be turned to cold. Hope it is just the strap though.

The cap is easy to get cross threaded kinda with that darn strap.
I cut my strap off the first time I filled up because it caused the
cap to hang down and scrath the paint. Stooopid idea, Ford.
The lady is not properly installing the cap. Never heard of one
comeing loose. School her on the proper way to install one
of these new course threaded plastic gas caps and see if the problem
is still occuring.

The one time my wife pumped her own gas she filled her Focus up wth 91. Nothing bad really just cost a little more. Oh and did I mention she didn't even put the cap back on or close the door.

Mike... did not have a chance yet to install the upgrade. Plan on doing it tomorrow, so I will keep you posted. Vibration is driving me nuts though so I'm really anxious to install the upgrade. It's more of a vibration sound or rattle than feel if that makes sense.

I'll keep you posted...

Prometheus... Love the hood of your car.
