Default Suspension install

Okay, so Roush doesn't send any bolts with their suspension kit. According for Ford, you are to use new bolts. I went to Ford, asked them, and they said they do not replace them if the car is fairly new when they do a suspension kit install. Roush did send new locknuts for the front stabilizer bar

So, which is it? One time use? or if they are new (my car has 2500 miles on it) reuse them? I for one, reused them after the Ford guy (and TacoBill) said not to bother with new ones.

Wht would you need new bolts? I don't understand......maybe just make sure that you put some locktite on them, but I can't imagine why you would need new ones....unless they needed to be longer or something.

the suspension fasteners are all one time use for the most part.....you are suppose to use new ones when you replace parts.

Okay, thats what I figured, since they are so close to "new" anyhow with 2500 miles on em.

So far, the Roush kit is awesome, the car stays very flat, and ride compliance is very good for a "sport" suspension.

Miles/time is not the factor. Once you remove the nuts they will not achieve proper torque when re-installed. The most common problem is with the third link bolt. The nuts will backthemselves off. I know a number of people that have had the problem including myself.

Third link bolt?

Roush gives you new lock nuts for the front stabilizer bar. I locktighted the upper strut mounts......everything else is torqued to spec. Guess Ill keep a close eye on the lower strut bolts, and the rear shock bolts, and stabilizer brackets. Dosent take long to check torque of any of those.

Sorry, my first post was missleading. I meant bolts AND nuts...............

Anyone else every hear a very faint hollow clunking sound from the rear after a spring / suspension install? Happens when I stop, or turn the front wheels.......but not really when I hit any bumps. Its like the body/frame loading up a bit causes it. .......
