Default OAF = DOA MAF

My local tuner says that Oiled Air Filter elements have
been killing Ford Mass Air Flow sensors in his world.
Any comments? Only from too much oil at re-oil time?
I would just toss it and get another factory oiled filter
if it was me. He thought it was factory oiled filters
that were killing his customers MAF sensors. It does
not kill it, just makes it read wrong and this causes
the computer to lean out the mixture and cook engines.
Thats what he says....[:@]

Whats up gang? Any lean mixtures due to a flaky
oiled MAF sensor?

Yep, I heard the same. K&N uses the stock MAS and from I understand has the highest failure rate.

thats becuase theK & N doesnt usually use a tune....it must have a tune to compensate.

It would be because of over oiling. If you oil to proper measurements you shouldn't have a problem.

???? Closed loop FI adjusts itself to a degree, otherwise everytime you changed altitude you'd be screwing up your A/F ratio.

the factory filter is paper, no oil. I clean my MAF 50 miles after I oil the filter just in case it got some on it.

Oil, CAI without tune, or a loose TB/Intake hose connection are a few of the reasons an MAF will force the engine to run lean. The car runs fine with a 'stock" air filter. In fact the same air filter and filter box found in the GT 500 is more then capable of supplying intake air to an engine that produces 500 hp. If you want more go spend your money on a tune. They can produce software arrangements for stock intakes and filters. However, you can't argue that the CAI's are terrific looking under the hood.

sounds like warranty work to me lol...
...also, it was always my understanding that it was the over-oiling during filter services that took out emissions sensors...which is why I'll pony up the fifty bucks for a replacement filter every 15K, 30K, whatever mileage interval I decide on...
