FWIW: (guess because I'm in the pictureposting mood.. LOL)
Here was my Saleen HID install (yellow Mustang) vs Sylvaina Silver Stars (Black Mustang)
No this was about 1:00 PM Both low and high beams (yes the Saleen HIDs have low and high beams)

These things light up the road!!!!

Lowbeams

High beams

High beams

Ive had HIDs on my last two cars. If you have factory designed system you dont need high beam. Never used highbeams in the 7 years I had them.

schapman,
you are correct, I guess IF you don't have high beams you wouldn't use them... Makes sense!

That's kind of like mesaying I've never dropped the top on our 67 Mustang.... but is not a convertible so mainly it would be because I can't drop the top!!

I have an 08 with HID's

I don't think they will work with the 07 and below as the high beam system works by moving a metal shutter around the bulb to adjust the beam pattern. This shutter is activated by a motor which has a separate control system and wiring than the halogen systems.

These are true "bixenon" the single bulb provides both low and hi beams by moving a shutter.

I borrowed this photo from a great thread over at "The Other Forum"....Thanks to Kevin. The arrow indicates the retractable shutter that tube refers to in his post....

these are my stangmods.com 8000k HIDS.. i love them.. i accidentaly bought the single beam kit but they make a true hi/low for about 50 more..around 300 for 2 headlamp bulbs and ballasts....this was taken with my camera phone so its bad quality but i love the 8000k color....looks great day or night..the saleens and 08 hids look too yellow for my tastes....and the glare around my light in this pic is cuased by the color temp...the higher you go 6000-12000k the more of a "halo" effect you get especially on film or camera

Not sure how you got I didnt have high beams out of my statement. Last two cars were Audi's with HIDs and they had highbeam also. Just never had the need to use them.
If you've ever driven an Audi, BMW or Mercedes with HIDS you'd understand that highbeam dont project farther than the HIDS just higher.
