Default SL vs SM API oil grade

Im just about to perform my first oil change on my GT, and the Ford dealer gave me SM grade oil. I thought I read someone saying NOT to use SM grade? If so, why is that? The operators manual does not give a grade rating, just says 5W20 API for gasoline engines.

I thought it wasnt good for synthetic until a few thousand miles (ie, 20K or so) were put through, to avoid any possibility of oil burning. ??

Amsoil is what I have planned for her in spring their new 0W20 full syn.

What would be the purpose in that????? and i like many other do run RP.....i think the reason that it has different standards is because it is a racing oil for the most part. It has to meet different and probably more strenuous tests.

RP doesn't list which specs it meets, because it doesnt meet them (at least not officially). Also many experts (google it) say RP contains harsh additives and detergents to make it work really well, which may damage the metals.

I dont know if I believe it but why risk it when theres plenty of other good companies to choose from?

And dont trust amsoil... They have too much fake internet marketing to be trusted. Again, why trust them when theres well known and proven companies like Mobil 1 out there.

Dont use royal purple.. it has MOLY in it which will build up and clog oil lines and whatnot......Mobil 1 i sthe most popular choice, but Amsoil is nice too .. Redline etc.... Just make sure there isny MOLY in it..

" And dont trust amsoil... They have too much fake internet marketing to be trusted."

I have seen independent lab tests (www.sportrider.com) that showed Amsoil and Mobil 1 performing at the top. Amsoil is cheaper for me. Just because it is marketed differently (not major chains) has no bearing on its performance.

Though it is motorcycle related, it shows Amsoil isnt "fake", and its as good as Mobil 1.

I dumped my sludge for mobil one 5w20 at 1000 miles. That's enough of a break-in...
