Default shifter ****

How does the stock shifter **** come off. Can it be replaced with the Hurst styled ball. Just wondered for appearance sake until I can order the real thing.

it should just twist off, just an fyi I just had a hurst short throw shifter installed and at this point I am not crazy about it. Its a little noisy when you shift not gears grinding but just not smooth. I may go back to stock or the Pro 5.0.

Pretty easy to do: the boot has a rubber grommet thing on the end that attaches the boot to a groove in the bottom of the shifter ****. It's flexible, so you can gently "roll" it off the bottom of the shifter ****. After it comes loose, you can unscrew the ****. The shifter does not bother me, but I hated the **** from the factory, so I bought a white Roush shifter ball for $30, and put it on. Goes on with no problem... and it's a lot less than a complete Hurst shifter.
