Default any recomendations?

was wondering what mods i can do for under a grand that i can do to stock 4.6 on my 05 that would make the biggest diff right away on limited funds, i have been a chevy guy all my life but have now seen the light, i plan on doing most of the work myself , as i have almost unlimited acsess to tools. my knowledge of ford motors and drivetrains is a bit limited, but am eager to learn. i'm sooooo glad i found this site, peace out.
