... I hate to say it but I hate the roush cars because of 90% of their owners... Flame suit on, i've been to a Roush meet for my past job for a tuning company and all I can say is what MORONS. I have never seen a bunch of people so stupid in my entire life. This was in fact in the SN95 generation of cars but I could never bring myself to own a Roush after dealing with this group of people.
That in fact will bias my decision toward the S197. Besides that, the only SN95 stang I could see possibley ever owning would be a 94-95 5.0, 98 Cobra, and mainly the infamous 03-04 Cobra's. As an unbiased statement I would still take the S197 over the Roush.
Honestly, the hardest part of your decision will be whether you will be able to let go of a car that you've owned and loved. If you can overcome that you will not be disappointed with your decision.

Oh if it was up to me would would trade his in and get him an 05 GT. Then we take whats left over from his and add that to my roush to trade on a black 04 cobra

You're 17 and don't want to cruise to school in the latest style of Mustang??!!?!!? When I was 17(late 1982), I would have gladly given up a 1980 Turbo Cobra Mustang for an '83 GT(132hp vs 175hp, similar to the 260hp vs the 300hp of your & your dad's cars). Kids these days[:@]............................

yea well people at school have seen mine and my dads cars and i am constantly getting compliments in my car...one of the underclassmeneven went as far as saying "you have the sexiest 'stang at the school" which i do have to agree

Well if having a faster car doesnt matter to you then I would say keep the Roush. I would say the Roush would be worth more later on down the road. Im not sure about the resale value for those outlaws.
