You don't feel it at all? The floorboard/firewall and hump below the shifter area throw heat if I've been going for awhile. Christ, if I open the hood after driving for 30 minutes, the shock towers are too hot to touch.

Well, opening the hood and touching the strut towers is another thing Let's not forget that the motor has two exhaust manifolds which run out past the inner fenders and under the firewall, transfered heat is an inevitable result.
But anyway, no, I can't say I've ever really noticed excessive firewall/bulkhad heat. Just the Shifter rod.

Only on the shifter and only after a while of driving. Never too bad though.

i notice significant heat in the driver's side footwell. it's noticeable mostly at night where the ambient air is cooler.

Doesn't seem to make much difference in my experience. It's mostly city driving that I notice heat on the gear shifter. 5 hours on the highway is the same as 20 minutes, slight heat on the shifter but really nothing to write home about.

I guess I was driving the car pretty much all day over the Woodward cruise and I only noticed the shifter rod getting to the same temp as driving it for 30 mins in Hot traffic. It seems to plateau out.

Perhaps the guys with footwell heat issues have missing or damaged exhaust heatshields ?
