I ordered a C&L CAI and Evolution Tune yesterday (having them overnighted, CAN'T WAIT)... Anyway, I forgot to list that I have Flowmasters 40's(axle-backs only). I can't see this being an issue, but I just want to make sure....

 

Nope, no tune needed for the muffs.

Ditto the above. Straight-thru muffs wouldimpact the tunebut not the Flowmaster 40's.

straight through mufflers dont either...NO axleback will have anything to do with the tune.....only LTs or a Midpipe change will

If you say so. I thought I saw them ask that (straight thru muffs or not) on one of the tuner suppliers website for the info they needed to set up the tunes...

 

Axle backs dont affect anything but the right sound you are looking for at best. And with the CAI & tune it will 1) sound alot better & 2) pull even HARDER. All I can say is ENJOY and I love how the car looks. One of the nicer blacks out there.

That's interesting that the general consensus is that no real benefit is gained from the axle backs other than sound.

I was considering a mild axle back for a teeny bit of added performance (such as the Ford racing muffs), but did not desire a louder sound. I think the stock sound is just loud enough to sound cool, but not attract too much attention from the police. After reading this, I think I will just forego the axle backs, and stick with the stock system. I don't want to attact any more attention speeding around than I already do!
