Not sure if this will help or if this is what you are talking about, but I will try. My buddy has an F250 I believe and has put an aftermarket dvd player head unit into it. When he showed it to me, he said did not have it installed, he installed it himself. I believe the ground wire or something is connected to the E-brake, so that it only holds a connection when the e-brake is engaged. However, there is a specific sequence in how u put the brake on and take it off to allow the dvd player to play. If he would have had it installed, then they would have connected the wire to the brake, but since he did it himself, he did not connect that wire, and he manually connects the 2 wires in the correct sequence to turn on the dvd player while it is in gear (and with the e-brake off). You may have to do some research or ask for some other assistance for the wire location on your car and the correct sequence. Hope this information helps.

the bypass is not going to be as easy as grounding the ebrake wire......go to avic411...the factory nav is a pioneer unit.

Did what?
Hook a rear cam up to the OEMnav unit?
He went Alpine aftermarket, I believe.
The question was for an Ford OEM nav unit?
Its controlled by the Can Bus. Good luck
bypassing the no nav or DVD during travel.
