Default rust inhibitor?

hey guys, i live in winnipeg manitoba. we salt our roads for 7 months of the year so rust is a huge issue here. i only drive my car on dry days and only between april and september but im still worried about rust. i'm wondering if i should get one of those electric rust inhibitors put on, but one of my friends told me that they only work if you get it put on before you have any km's on your car. i have 20k on my car and dont have any rust yet. if anyone knows if it would be worth it for me to put one on now please let me know.

I've heard of that before on a TV show about hot rods I think. Do you have a product name I could look up. Thanks.

Thanks Marcus. Here's another product I found that sounds very good. I'm wondering why they only claim 76% effectiveness though. If it stops rust at all it seems it would stop all rust since the current travels through all the steel parts of the vehicle.

EDIT: Here's the N. Am website:

This would be great for those of us that use vehicles (Jeeps or 4 wheel drive)on the beach. The sand and salt really wears the body and under parts out quick.
Thanks for the info!
