That looks like the old Soviet stuff we saw in Afghanistan. Real fixer-uppers there. I'm not sure how easy it would be to put hood pins on an old T-72. I googled it but had no luck finding install information. Oh well.

I just installed these hood pins /w lanyard on my 07 GT and they look great! I did run into 2 problems that were a pain. I am assuming that since this thread was originally posted a long time ago, the manufacturer might have made some changes to the pins...

The first problem was that the pins were too short, even if the bottom bolt was holding on to 2 or 3 threads. The holes in the pins were still under the surface of the hood. What I did was I was able to put the bottom bolt [I]inside[I] the frame of the car. Meaning in between the top and bottom drilled holes. It was a bit tough because I had to push the bolt about 1.5 feet but at least now the bolt is fully and securely on the pin.

The second problem that I ran into was that the 8 little screws that came with the pins were too soft. The Allen Key that was in the kit was a bit too small for the screws and didn't fit properly. After a few turns, the screw ended up getting damaged (the inside turned into a circle as opposed to an octagon or w/e the number of sides, you got the idea) and I had to use pliers to get it out of the hood. What I did instead was I used heavy duty phillip's head screws, which worked out really well.

Like I stated earlier, I have an 07 GT and since its been a few years since the thread was started, some changes might have been done on either the pins or the stang, or both.. i dont know.... But if anyone is planning on using these hood pins, definitely do not use the 8 allen key screws provided and use some heavy duty screws. Also, try pushing the bolt inside the frame, that was its completely on the pin. The hood pins came out great though!

At the end, I spent only about $24 including tax.

Should I alter the steps at all if I have a carbon fiber hood?
