I have a 2007 Mustang with the Shaker 500, I am a noob at speaker specs. But my question is to replace the speakers do I just pop off the plastic shield on the door speakers and un-bolt the screws? I have installed a home movie theater system before. Another question is I want to replace all four speakers with direct replacements just better quality, any recommendations? And I don't want to change the Shaker 500 deck.

 

in the shaker system, there are two speakers in each door and a pair in the back, for a total of 6 speakers in the car. Yes, to access the 8" subs, pop off the grills in the doors. To access the others in the doors (6x8's) you need to take the door panel apart. It's not hard, just a bunch of screws. The back are easy as well, just pop the grills off to access the 6x8's back there. Do yourself a favor and get a small ratchet and torx set to get the speakers out back there, it's a tight fit once you get your arms back there under the glass.

 

I meant to say 8 speakers, I totally forgot about the upper speakers in the door. Anyway any suggestions for speakers?

 

I left the door subs and replaced the 4 6x8s with Infiniti Reference, and added a sub in the trunk, very pleased.
