code after oil change.
The check engine light is on after I changed my oil. I have checked everythingcaps etc. I don't have a reader or a tuner at this point. Any suggestions. I am going to disconnect the battery tomorrow and see if that helps but any thoughts would be great.
fo sho try the battery trick first works on almost everything for me. Autozone is a waste of time I think, the dealer only if you have to. Autozone was made to sell car soap and oil.
There is an electrical connector near the oil filter that someone on here awhile back broke or knocked loose when they were changing the filter that caused a fault. I forget what the code was, but you might try examining the area around theoil filter for a loose or broken plug.
i wouldnt unplug the battery. that erases the code completly, along with any freeze frame data. i'd go to autozone, have them pull the code and tell you what it is, without erasing it. then you can either fix it yourself, or go to the dealer (or another shop).
i hate working on a car where the customer clears codes themselves. you loose all data related to the code and it makes the car harder to diag.

Some codes can still be stored in memory.
