strut bar

RE: strut bar
they are suppose to stiffen up the front, this was a decent mod for previous generations of stangs, but the chassis for the s197 is very rigid and this really doesnt do anything for them. Spend you $100 on another mod that will get you some actual performance.

All flash and no performance. Adds weight also.
You can tell by the SLOTTED mounting holes [:@]
that its a lot of hype unless you plan on some off
road racing and sticky mad tires. Normal street
hot rodding, no function but to add front end weight.
Others who have them will disagree, but I think
its just to justify to themselves the $$ they outlaid
for theirs. IMHO only.

RE: strut bar
i think howarmat should have anti strut tower brace under his name. everytime i open an s197 thread about them he is one of the first ones to tell you not to get one, must have posted the same message about not getting one 100 times now.. i do agree with him though, just something ive noticed.

RE: strut bar
I guess they're like the Lambo doors. Disliked by the few but draw stares from the masses![:-]
What about the 3 different strut bars that go in the back? Any performance gain there?

RE: strut bar
My last car was an ’04 Grand Prix and I installed a front STB after I had the car for about a year, mainly for appearance because I installed some matching braces that went from the shock towers to the radiator support. I was surprised at the difference it made, it felt noticeably more stable in corners and on the highway. There were also people on the GP message board who were both for and against them. Obviously, it's a much different car than a Mustang.
This is my first Mustang so I can’t comment on how much improvement there is between the current and previous generations. Personally, I’m going to try one on mine and see what happens.

RE: strut bar
If you're concerned about ultimate handling in the corners, anything you can do to stiffen the chassis is going to help.I have added them to other cars in the past and there was noticeable improvement, for example, my autocross times went down. I know my Shelby handles like its on rails. The only way to know it true worth is to conduct some skidpad testing w/ G-meters both with and without the bar. I would actually also like to add a rear strut bar also at some point in time. If nothing else, they do look good!
