Ok soo I get that limp home mode is something the engine does to perserve itself when it thinks something is wrong w/ the car but what exactly is "limp home mode". I am a n00b sorry.

Take her and the car into the dealership, be a tough guy rip the service manager a new one.... you'll look like a hero. ha ha. All kidding aside she may be getting the dumb female treatment from the dealer just go in for her and get to the bottom of the issue, might pay off for both of you.

Basically you are right. It lets you know something is not right, and take it to get it serviced immediately. Basically it is a smarter check engine light.

"red little v6"

why does it have to be a "little v6"??
last I checked it was the same size as the GT.
That was great, I knew it was just a matter of time beforesomeone witha V-6 took offense. It was, infact, the only reason I was keeping up with this otherwise wierd thread....

It will sometimes make the car run like crap (no power, no oomph) until the problem is resolved. It keeps the timing and fuel in strict check to keep the engine from damaging itself. You'll know the car is in Limp Mode because the light will be lit and most times it will run like crap. No power, sputtering or missing, and just an overall weak feeling when you step on the gas.

My GT went into limp mode 3 times before I could get it to the dealer. They replaced the throttle body sensor and it's been fine since.
