punched out
i know that [sm=ttiwwp.gif], but i have to share
my friend and decided to try something out on his project car, it has a built motor and is running a conservative (by his standards) 12psi at the moment.
anyway, we took the stock exhaust off from the midpipe back. first we used hammers and metal rods and punched out his cats. this took awhile, and a lot of ceramic and mesh material came out before it was done. next, i wasnt there for this part, but he cut open the top of the mufflers and somehow managed to pull everything out of the mufflers as well, then he bent the pipe and made it run straight through to the tips. he hasnt welded the top back on, but he essentially converted his stock exhaust to a free flowing setup complete w/ MIL eliminators. let me tell you guys something, the stock exhaust all hollowed out sounds really bad ***, and it helped a real good amount performance wise as well. plus, from looking at the car at any angle, you would think it is street legal lol!

RE: punched out
it was about a half a day's worth of work, plus it didn't cost anything. it was fun to do. i'll make surea clip goes out to the official exhaust thread. btw, we did the midpipe cats, before the mufflers and there was almost no change at all in sound.

hammeron - if you saw the inside, you may think otherwise. it's gotta be those stock mufflers keepin it quiet, maybe the large empty chamber where the cats werehas something to do with it as well.
