Default stupid tracition control

i was messing around with a buddy of mine on the parkway and i was doing about 65 and i revved it up a couple of time and downshifted into 3rd from 5th. well my car completely lost power and the rpms droppedand i noticed the traction control light kicking on and then it started going again just fine. is that supposed to happen?? it was a little scary at first until i saw the traction control was doing it. and ha ha no before anyone suggest this, I definitely wasn't about to spin the tires I only have a cai, tune, and x-pipe... so that's not why it kicked on[8D]

going 65, revving the engine and dropping into 3rd can probably let the tires loose on the right surface....the TCS wouldnt kick on unless that was happenning unless something is messed up wtih the TCS

Revving and then dropping into 3rd would definitely kick your tires loose......nothing wrong with your TCS, it worked the way its supposed to

this might sound like a stupid question but is that really hard ona slightly moddified mustang if you match the engine speed before you downshift. or should I just really be going into like 4th gear at those speeds?

Mine will do it going from 5th to 4th if I have the TCS on. Happened to me about a month ago on the beltway. Went to pass shifted and the engne lost RPM's and TCS light came on.

I'm thinking 5th to 3rd would definetly do it.

Going down the track with TCS on one time I was totally fine untill I hit 3rd. TCS came on, and I lost all power for a split second. That would have been a high 13's run... on my 3rd ever run down the track...

Yep, sounds completely normal, can't tell you how many times I've done that myself. I really don't like the TCS. I have a tune that defaults it to off, but it has driveability issues so I can't use it. You just gotta remember to shut it off.

Turning the TCS off is something I do whenever I start the car.. just habit now. The only time I leave it on is in the rain when the wife and kids are in the car.. they get scared when I go sideways..although I think fishtailing is one of the many perks to owning a RWD car.

fishtailing is a perk, hitting the curb while fishtailing is not.....
