Just pulled 'em with my hands, LOL. No, just got a couple of heavy chains withhooks I have laying around, a sturdy tree, and my SUV. Yes, it's midieval, but worked like a charm! I just kept measuring them after each gentle pull, and once more prior to install, to make sure they were even.

Balsy. Let one of those get loose and Katie bar the door.
I have some front springs that need to be compressed. Maybe
you could come over with some C clamps and help me out.
Or maybe not on second thought. LOL

how do you permanently stretch the springs, wont they settle back down after time??
That's what I was thinking. Since it's going to happen little by little though eventually you'll get used to the ride quality even when they settle back to the way they were originally

Yep, it worked just fine. A chain around a tree, with 2 hooks at one end of the spring, and a chain on my hitch with 2 hooks at the other end of the spring. Basically the spring connected one chain to the other. A few tugs and rebounds, and it worked out nicely. I'll keep measuring fender to ground distance every week or so and see if they settle at all.

congrats and very creative thinking with the stretch! Let us know what happens if the springs settle or not.

I'm surprised you had a problem with them. I have the same springs and didn't have the problem you describe. Well, as long as it works out for you. Scary to think if one of those had cut loose while you were stretching them. You now the Mustang Forum's top McGuiver!
