I bought one, had it installed, then took it off because people kept saying it looked funny - blocked my view too.

I put the CDC light bar on my vert. It was a very simple install. Took 3-4 hours. Be sure to get the wiring that disables the brake lights when the top is up. Really improves the look of the verts. The chassis is much stiffer now; it is very noticeable. Almost all of my rattles and squeeks are gone after I installed the light bar and the car feels much more solid when hitting bumps.
You just answered a question I had. Thanks.

does the wiring to disable the brake light when the top is up come with the light bar, or is it separate?

Here are the install instructions:

I don't like the look myself, if it added structural rigidity, or roll over protection I would consider one.

Does anyone make a bar for the convertible that doesnt have the brake lights?
I like the rollover protection (better than nothing, I know), and the fact it stiffens up the chassis.
Just don't need the additional brake light.
My rear ducktail doesnt cover over the stock brake light.

Or does anyone know of a roll bar that will not interfere with street use?
I dont want swing out sidebars, or a bar behind the front seats.
Just want something that won't interfere with rear seat passengers when the top is up.

Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!

Which manufacturer claims rollover protection/chassis stiffness improvment?

Couple of answers for people...

CDC's lightbar can be ordered with or without LED brake light. Most suppliers only list the one WITH the light.

The auto-off wiring kit (when top goes up) from CDC is free, if you request it while ordering. If ordering from another supplier, you will need to request that they get the extra wiring kit from CDC.

This info came directly from CDC, as I just called them about 2 weeks ago about this topic.

Hope that helps!

None of them state that. Which was why I was saying "Better than nothing".
The lightbar is probably better than nothing for chassis stiffening and extremely minor rollover protection.

And to quote Wombat184
The chassis is much stiffer now; it is very noticeable. Almost all of my rattles and squeeks are gone after I installed the light bar and the car feels much more solid when hitting bumps.

His post is why I posted the install instructions, so everyone could see how it is done, and make a logical acessment of the lightbars, they are LIGHTBARS, not roll bars, or strut braces.

Thanks
