In about an hour and at no cost you can add 20hp to a 2005 GT. The post 1993 pre 2005 Mustangs are not very attractive. I'd rather have the 2005 GT. The April 2005 issue of Mustang Enthusiast will tell you where to find those 20 free HP.

Do you have the mag? If so can you post this "how to" for the 20 h.p?

It involves removing the vapor trap in the end of the snorkle and a reflash of the computer.

it's not 20HP. not even close. they did it to a manual 05 putting down only 255 and it put down mid 260s the second run. i *think* 264.

It went from 264HP & 276ft lbs of torque to 284HP & 309ft lbs torque. Not bad for free. The magazine cost $3.99.

magazine... that's why i don't believe crap in mags. when i see it done, then i believe what i see. i only saw a gain of about 10 on a manual 05. which is still a nice gain for the whole 3 minutes it took the guy there to take it out.

This went beyond just removing the snorkle filter. I wonder why the V6 doesn't have a snorkle filter.

oh, then that's ok then.

you should have seen the look on the guy's face when he started unscrewing **** to remove that filter. chris was like "it's ok, this thing serves no purpose, except stealing HP."

but anyway, back on topic. i'd definately take the mach 1 over the 2k5 GT. mainly because i'm still not a fan of the new body style, and the mach 1 is faster stock for stock. oh, and there's alot more mod choices for the mach 1. i may get a newer mustang when they have the 45th anniversery ones. that should be a good time to trade mine in.

All the engine details are nice. However, as I consider the mod for my 05. But, I can't ignore my 5spd. tranny. Is this new to the tang platform?? Wonder what kind of power it can live under ??

If I am facing a complete drivetrain redo, then maybe it is cheaper to go Saleen, etc. I will do the labor myself. In the middle of my second Harley redo, and built the 440 cu.in. big block for my 72 Duster (it lived to 6200 rpm, on several occassions. If I don't have to go the shop labor, maybe I can do a killer 05 for 10-12K ??
