msrp 500

I just came back from my local dealership, after getting my brother a 08 stang brochure. They had a nice gt 500 that sold to some local guy for $47k. Thats the fourth one that they have ever recieved. It's a very small dealership, so they don't get many. The cool thing is that they have a policy not to charge over msrp for their cars. That has included all the shelby gt's, and gt 500'sthat they have recieved. They even sold a ford gt, a couple years ago for msrp. I just think it's cool that a dealer would do that. Courtesy ford here in N.C. has been great to work with. When I bought my stang, they added the frpp handling pack, and put the cost into the purchase price. When I got my cervinis hood, they painted it, and blended the fenders for $400. They even used info from these forums to fix my water intrusion leaks, before the tsb on it came out. They just seem to be a departure from the norm these days. I've only heard some locals complain about them before, but my experiences have always been good

Yeah, some dealers go beyond because they know people remember long term, even my dealer which I like took the screws as high as they could for the GT500 and the GT.

I'd buy one for that price. BTW, the Ford Dealership that I bought mine from, is CLOSED DOWN, Gone, Out of Business, Gone, Kaput......http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_1_35.gif

it's great to hear stories like this, it may
even be true who knows. i could be wrong,
but my instict tells me these special vehicles
that sold for msrp, were sold to friends and
family.

i leave open the possibility that this is not the case
tho.....

I'm sure some of them were sold to friends/family. I do know that they have also gone to regular people. I belong to the local Mustang club, and four of our members have no special ties to the dealer. 2 gt500's,and 2 shelby gt's.The last shelby gt went unsold for quite some time at $40 k. They even brought it to our Coast Guard day picnic to drum up intrest. It was on their lot for another month, before one of our club members bought it. This small town / farming community, and is much more interested in trucks. It seems that folks here want to have trucks that are lifted to the sky, and not so much Mustangs.

My dealer had one for 5+ over sticker that sold fast and told me he will call when the next one comes in and we can talk, meaning possibly even less than the 5k markup. I also have an ad for a Shelby GT from the paper last weekend for a Shelby GT @41k.. Ill scan it and post later.

Yea it's true, the dealership I bought by stang from was trying to get me to buy a black Shelby GT for 40k, and I know I could have gotten them under that.

My dealer has an 08 gt500 with an msrp or 47 and change. They are asking $69,900. I was joking with the guy that sold me my car, letting him know that MSRP was happening more and more around the country. He said they had received quite a few offers of sticker price, but the owner stated "I'll park it in my garage and let it sit before I'll sell it for sticker". What a slob.

Just tell him fine, I will go purchase from another dealer who actually wants to make money :)

effing assrapists. My local stealership has a couple of Shelby GT's for $41 and change ($2500 ADM) and the GT500 is marked up $20K. Disgusting. I love Mustangs but I'd sooner get a z06 for MSRP than pay an already-rich a$$hole $20K more than he was entitled to make off a car. Assrapists FTL.
