Hurst Shifter Coming Loose?

Hurst Shifter Coming Loose?
Hey guys i installed my Hurst shifter about a month ago and i noticed it is starting to come loose like when it's in gear it still moves up and down a good 1/2 inch. Anyone else notice this? Do you have to go back under and tighten some screws?

i believe i read somewhere that when that happens, it means the shifter is coming apart internally and needs to be replaced. it's strange that you have had it for such a short time and this is happening. defenatly check the bolts for the shaft to base connection. if those are tight i would contact the seller and ask about a warranty.

Mine has a little vertical movement and you hear a bumping noise when you work it up and down. The chrome stick is still fastened tightly (yes, with blue threadlocker or loctite). My movement is in the pivot ball, like it's too small for the housingit's in. I have a new one coming from Brenspeed. I will compare the new one with mine and see it my vertical movement is normal. Personally, I'm getting tired of all the Hurst issues. They should fix things once and for all.....Yes, that means providing bolts and nuts with lock washers for the chrome stick. Evidently, no one can torque their allen bolts enough to make it stay on. Perhaps they want everyone to buy their new $300 version.
Edit: Don't think I don't love my Hurst shifter though. It's awesome, even with the play mine has.

Hey there bud...
Remove the leather boot, and rubber grommit around the shifter. If it's the chrome handle that's moving, do yourself a favor. Take out the allen head bolts and replace with hex bolts, lock washers and nuts. Throw some blue loctite on there as well for good measure. Crank that thing down, and I garantee you, when you slam through the gears, it'll give you something solid to hold onto.
If it's not the chrome bar, but internal, send it back for a replacement.

I agrre with Fletch...
Mine got loose 2 month after the install and I stuck 2 nuts ( Hum, that sounds familiar) on the other side, there's enought thread sticking out.
It's been a year now and everything still tight.
Easy fix, good luck...
