ROLL BAR/CAGE

RE: ROLL BAR/CAGE
Had mine installed locally by a fella that does a lot of NHRA work and races dragsters. He used a kit (don't know which) and also frame mounts. I payed a little more for swing-outs but highly recommend if you're still going to street the car. I also pad as much of the metal as possible for safety issues and also because on a hot day, the metal can really heat up.
I'm attaching pics, so you can see how such a mod can affect the inside of the car. I still use my car as a daily but only because my commutes are mostly less than 5 minutes in light traffic. Not sure I would want to drive any real distance surrounded by all that metal and listening to the thundering clunking noises of the race transmission.

RE: ROLL BAR/CAGE
If you are putting a rollbar or cage in I highly recommend getting a custom one.
The Autopower stuff is made for SCCA. It is also mild steel. The biggest problem with premade bars will be you cannot control the design of thecage i.e; where the main hoop anchors, bending the center bar for seat recline, where rear braces anchor, where the side bars ancor near kick panels and what the shape of the main hoop is.
I would want the best looking work that is done specifically for NHRA specs.
They dont put stickers on cages unless you are like under 9 seconds so it will need to be inspected at each outing.
Get chrome moly and have it mig weldedto the car with 6" plates 1/4" thick ((You can actually pass spec with 3/8 bolts - get it welded)and
get pin-out side bars if you like.
I am not in to the gutted interior look myself.

RE: ROLL BAR/CAGE
Your roll bar looks great, especially on the 'vert.
Do you feel the difference in chassis stiffness with the addition of your roll bar in the convertible?
And is the rear seat still useable in your car with the top up?
I think I see that the rear horizontal bar is removeable, which would make it easier for rear passengers to get in.
Is that correct?
Just looking for ideas for my vert. I dont plan on running at the track much, but the additional safety is a great idea.
Thanks.
