TPMS question
I have a 2007 that has the TPMS sensors, I am going to be swapping my wheels, the company I am buying from is offering free mounting and balancing, I don't want to go through the headache and cost of messing with swapping the TPMS sensors. What happens if I use the wheels without the TPMS sensors? Is it just a warning light that comes on, if so can I disable the light, or is there more to it than that?
Just a warning light, but no good way to disable, other than the trick to put one in a pressurized PVC pipe in your trunk, which has had varying degrees of success for others. But nothing other than the light.
So the light will go off with the reset button?

Push reset, and don't worry about it. About 30% of the time, my warning doesnt even go off, which isnt really a good thing. DO NOT rely on it if you use your stock rims again.

After pushing reset, the message will go away. The light will flash for about 30 seconds afterward, and then go off, never to bother you again until you restart the car. It beeps only once, and the light is not bright at all.
Its even better with a V6stang that has no message center.
The light on the cluster flashes at you for about 10 secs
and then goes dark until restart. No hitting any reset button needed.

Yeah I went two weeks w/out the TPMS and it was annoying as hell. I would say NO to messages that come up each and everytime you start the car IMO. If you can have the company install the sensors then I would def recommend that.
When I first picked up my car new from the dealer, the TPMS light was on and the dealer couldn't figure out why. Excited to take it home, I agreed to bring it back in a couple weeks to have the dealer work on it again. So I lived with that darn light for two weeks, had to hit reset every time I started the car. No biggie but it was an anoyance. The dealer finally figured out the problem, there were no TPMS sensors installed in the wheels. They pulled the tires, installed the sensors and all is well now.
But, like smythge I too would like to geta new wheel/tire set.So my question is: can someone explain how those sensors work and would it be easy for my local tire shop (Discount Tires) to move the sensors from the stock wheels to the new? Is there a size issue if the stock are 17 in and the new rims are 18 in?
