WANTED: CO2 Emission Certificate !
OK, guys - I need your help!
Back here in Luxembourg/Europe, annual car tax is fixed since january this year according to the CO2 Emission of your engine and no longer to its cubic inch size. Practically, this means GT owners are facing a 300 percent increase of their tax. Before you paid some 200 US $ and now you are charged every 12 months 600 US $. The emission of my GT is estimated (!) by the local Taxoffice as some 330 gr/KM. Question: Does anybody have an idea where I could verify this emission rate ? Does FORD publish anywhere this technical data ? In advance, thanks for your help! John

If the taxation has switched from motor capacity to emissions I would have thought you'd be better off, not worse [&:]
I lived in Lux for 7 years. The vehicle tax AND insurance rates were calculated around motor capacity which was great if you had a high powered turbo car. I ran my 325hp Ford Cosworth there and paid less insurance than my boss who was running a sluglike 2.3l Diesel Bimmer !

Guys, thanks for your support. I thought in the first place I wouldn't get an answer at all...
@Marcus: Those low-price days are definitively gone around here since an evergrowing bunch of environmental Talibans have taken over. Nowadays it's fancy to support Al Gore and travel around only on bicycle...
But back to my initial quest for some technical FORD emission data - ANYBODY ?!

go here:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/sbs.htm
select year, make, model, provides tons/year under environmental.
you will need to know what VMT (vehicle miles traveled) per year that was used, and of course all those ugly metric/english conversions

That's why I left Europe boys and girls... Socialists and myself just don't get along.
Growing up, I knew I'll check out for somewhere else.
I do have a friend in Belgium that owns a Ford dealership and we do a lot of business together...
I remember him saying that he has Luxembourgeois customers.
PM me if you want his informations. He could help you since he imports a lot of S197s.
