Not to many tuners support the SuperChips
but I read that the good tuners support the SCTs.

I chose SCT because:
1. My searching showed that many, many s197 drivers were using it and satisfied with it and
2. My tuner had the most experience with SCT.

the tuner doesnt matter really, its the person writing the tune, but i dont know anyone who rights for the superchips tuner, Diablo or SCT is the only way to go for tuners and Doug, Justin and Brent are the best for custom tunes....
Ok, I'm new to this so excuse my ignorance.........If I get a SCT tuner, it needs to be programed to the modifications I currently installed, i.e. intake and exhaust? With a Superchips tuner, I'm just getting a generic tuning program, right? If I'm not understanding exactly how a tuner works, can someone please explain it, in terms I can understand. Thanks.
I picked up .3 in the quarter with SCT tuner and K&N air filter. It reprograms your computer stricktly towrds performance. All cars come from the factory with a tune which takes 3 things into acount: 1 mileage 2 emissions 3 performance The factory finds a happy medium. You put the perfvormance tune in when you want it to go. Highway driving you put it in economy mode. Gains about 3 mpg. You can return it to stock as well. It takes about 3mins to program it. Hope this answers your questions.

sct is superchips, thats what it stands for, but there is a different line of tuners, that wears the "superchips" name and not sct, super chips tuner

I appreciate the posts, but nobody has officially answered my question.
Your question has been answered.

The handheld does NOT MATTER. You have to have somebody tune your car. You cant just buy the handheld and tune the car yourself...well ya could but it would suck.

Do some research.

I disagree. Im tuned by sniper and couldnt be happier. Doug, Justin, or Brent didnt write my tune either.

Maybe for a mail orderd canned tune they are the way to go....i guess

That was the intent...if you have a dyno local and tuner that knows what he is doing that would be the way to go....but the three names mentioned above are probably better with their email tunes than 60% of the dyno tuners out there for the new stang.....

A major problem with an e-mail tune is weather.

They tune cars in their facility and use them as templates. Right there, in their shop they probably have the tune done very well. But lets say they are located up north where the weather may have been 50 degrees outside.

Now me being in Fl, if i bought that tune my car would run extrememly rich. This also works the other way. If a tune is written in Fl and someone in Canada buys it, they are going to have a big problem running lean.

I agree e-mail tunes are very convienent and are decent. But the way some people swear by them saying things like " it's the only way to go" is riddiculous.
