Default When should I buy?

Have been planning on buying a GT vert for about half a year now. I haveX Plan (supplier discount). I'm getting a Windveil Blue automatic GT premium with heated seats and black canvas top, tan interior with IUP.I want these specific options andthink I'll have to special order (when I've tried to locate one, the dealer always tries to get me to take a car that doesn't fit my exact description).Under X Plan, I will get whatever rebates/incentives are in effect at time I pick it up from dealership, so I need to try to time my order for the best deal.

My questions are:
1) When will the rebates/incentives be at their highest?December? January? Some other month?
2) Should I figure 6-8 weeks from the time I place the order forthedealer to get thecar?

By the way, have enjoyed reading the forum this last half year. Mustang sounds like the best value out there for a 4-seat performance convertible!

Thanks,
Brian

if it had been a car on the lot, I would say the best time is December, so the dealership can get the tax liability off his property, followed by the next best time, when the next year model comes out. But all that is lost when you special order. dealerships don't have much incentive to shed price for a special build.

Bump. Anyone know if factory incentives are better in December or January? Thanks.

It depends on how well the car is selling. Don't count on rebates for Mustang GT convertibles at all until year end. Right now there is the SWAP rebate of $1000. That may be the best you will get.

Anytime they're offering 0% is a good time to buy.

if you qualify. I bought my 07 when they were offering the 0% financing. But I knew that my credit wasn't gonna allow that. So I went in and told them that I was ready to buy and that I was wanting to try to get 0% financing. When I didn't get it I told them that the only way I would buy is if I could get some moola taken off the sticker. If not then I just couldn't afford the interest. So I ended up getting right around 2000 grand taken off the price they were asking. Being the fact that I got a California Special, and that particular package costs around 1900, I basically got the CS package for free. And everything in the world was right. Hell, if I hadnt gotten the money taken off I was prepared to go next door and get an 06 GTO for about 4 grand less brand new. But I finally decided that If I wanted something like a GTO then all I had to do was go out and put a supercharger on my wifes chevy lumina and I woud net the same power as the GTO and look just as crappy too.

I got an incentive last November, and there is one now until 10-31-07

But, aren't incentives just when picking from dealer stock?

And 0% usually is for a 48 month loan maximum?

I got my car new 2007 with the x plan, all I had was my dad negotiate with them to give it to us and they did. Just pretend like you do not like the car, in front of my salesperson I told my dad we should look at a new Charger (even though I hate Chargers, I was tricking them) and it worked. I think the best time to buy a new sports car is in the fall/winter especially a vert because know one wants them, so worst time to buy a vert is spring and summer IMO.
