4.10 VS 4.30

RE: 4.10 VS 4.30
What is the real top end for my car. I have the 4:10s, CAI/Brenspeed tune, Steeda Under drive pullys,2554518 tires, and Mac axlebacks? Brenspeed told me 125 but I beg to differ in a higher mph bracket.

RE: 4.10 VS 4.30
Rear end gearing is the ratio to which the rear axles will turn in relation to one turn of the driveshaft.
4.10 will put your motor RPM in it's powerband sooner than 3.55 at the same relative MPH therefore the car with 4.10 will be making more HP at same relative MPH than 3.55 car therefore accelerate faster from said MPH

oh my god. are there still people saying that 3.55 to 4.10 adds so many more shifts and shifting time that it outweights the greater torque multiplication?
ok, if you shift literally like a grandmother and take a second and a half to shift, maybe.
jesus, get with it people, use your head!!!!!!!!
and my friend hit 154.55 MPH with 4.10's and stock 18 inch bullits with stock tires. it was tapped out on the speedo, verified it with 2 GPS units. 2 other people (other than him, i wasn't there) were in the car, and it had more RPM to go and was still pulling. this is to quell all these people's theories that the car will redline in 5th at like 125-130. it won't.

Wow, surprised this thread is still going on since I started it so long ago. If its any concelation I got the 4.10s installed last October and absolutely love them.
My mpg isn't so good any more but its a part time driver so no big deal. It sure lights up my 275s though.

Damn....this thread has got me thinking now. I was planning on ordering 3.73s next week, but it sounds like everyone here is loving the 4.10s. My car only gets out on weekend sunny days. I take it everyone suggests 4.10's? It's a 5 speed by the way.

Here's one more opinion...
I think the 4.10s are the right fit for my car. (5-speed GT, normally-aspirated, 17 inch bullits). The car is always in the meat of the powerband, ready to go. It gives the car the "feisty small-block" feeling I was looking for. I think the 4.10s are a good choice for all-around blast-off/sport/power/city-commute/daily-driver/highway driving.
