Default HID kits?

Hey guys I was thinking about getting HID's (white color, none of the blue ones) on my car but I don't have 100s of dollars to spend on them. So I was wondering if any of the ebay ones are any good? Like this one.. here. And will the HID blind people in the stock housing? If so, I will just not get them. Thanks.

From past dealings with HID lights, simply putting a bulb into the stock housing will "blind" people more than if a housing designed specifically for HID lights is used. Not sure on the exact details, but I believe it has to do with the beam not being controlled effectively by the stock reflectors. That is unless the stock housing and the HID housing from Ford are the same. Sorry, not too much help...lol.

a few guys are running the ebay hids on here and have no complaints. sites like stangmods.com and americanmuscle.com sells kits for our cars as well. I'll be buying some from ebay soon.

Ok, not hi-jacking the thread here... just trying to get some more information for myself and for OP. If the existing housing will cause the light to shine in a matter that would blind oncoming traffic, would it be wise to maybe check out the Saleen headlight assemblies, and then find an aftermarket setup that would work?

correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the saleen hids have the hids built into the housing. its just one unit.

I did not know this. Was trying to get some info. Not sure what the OP was looking for, but I do a lot of night driving, and something better than the yellowish poor lighting would be great.

everyone has their opinion. I have some ebay hids for my f150 and they look and work great. never had a problem, well worth the $120 i paid. Alot depends on which ones you buy. Try to buy either German or Japan Ballasts. Stay away from the china and korea stuff.

Go to www.eurodezigns.com and get a pair of 8500K lamps. The spectrum of color with these lamps is right where the color white and blue intersect. I have HID headlamps in my car, but the stock fogs are halogen, and very yellow in comparison. I installed the 8500K in the fogs, and they look very close to the light projected by the HIDs. I have the 8500k in all my vehicles. Just a side note, check the website above and it will tell you what color of the light spectrum the number K your looking for is.

They may look great to you. But I'm willing to bet that oncoming drivers hate them. Also, I believe that wiith an actual HID headlight assembly the beam is more defined, giving you a better view of the road, and not just spewing light all over the place. HID Headlight > HID Bulb > Stock. IMO.
