Default Question about Mustang's "leather seats".

Hello everybody,

Brand new to the forum. Just got a new 08 Mustang GTa couple of weeks ago. It was my dream when I was in Iraq and finally got it a couple of days afterI got back and I am extremely happy with it so far.

My question is a pretty simple one but one which I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere. I've read that the "leather seats" which come with the Mustang GT Premium (which is whatI have) is in reality leather only in certain parts, while most of the seat is actually vynil. Is this true? Which part is leather and which part is vynil?

Want to know since I don't want to treat my "leather seats" with a leather protectant thinking its leather when in realityit's vynil, not too mention that it would be a little dissapointing that my "leather seats" are halfway fake.

AFAIK the seat itself is all Leather.

Maybe some Viynl on the part where you sit on, because leather + sweat + farts isn't a good thing.

Basically where you sit exactly is what's leather, the dotted part with the holes in it is leather!
The rest is plastic, and the rear seats are all plastic!!

If you have red leather, DON'T use leather cleaner on it because it will ruin your clothes!

First, let me welcome you to the Stangasylum. But more importantly, Glad you made it home safely, thank you for your service to our country. The "Leather" interior we all paid extra money for, is actually called leather "trim" , which means they trimmed most of the leather out of it to save money.

Even though some parts of the seat are not real leather, ALL of the seat will benefit from the leather treatments. It cleans and conditions and just smells really good too.

Thank you allfor all the responses and comments. I guess I will treat my seats with leather cleaner/protectant. Even if some parts are vynil, I've read that leather treatment (especially Meguiars)won't harm vinyl anyway. That was my biggest concern, ruining the seats. Even though its a bit dissapointing that there not "all leather", they still look pretty darn good in my opinion.
