Default Another front end clunking thread

Sooooo, I decided to put my car on jackstands today and slide under to check all of my suspension components. I'm about to install some new lower/upper control arms and relocation brackets so I figured I would climb under and really familiarize myself with everything I'm going to need to do. After seeing all the threads here on mustangforum concerning the front suspension issues I thought it would be a good idea to make sure everything is nice and tight up there. I really concentrated on the lower/upper sway bar mounts after hearing about all the clunking problems. The driver side was nice and tight. The passenger side was tight but when I turned the nut the whole bolt turned (w/o holding it at the end). I figured it would be sung enough. It must have loosened just a HAIR because after bolting my wheels back on and test driving I had the S197 CLUNK problem from the front end passenger side. Put her back up on stands and snug'd the bolt up SUPER tight (while holding the bolt end) to alleviate the problem. I can't believe that the TINY bit of looseness would cause that much noise but it did. I think my next upgrade will be new sway bar links because obviously Ford's suck. Or is it the strutmounts????

Not sure, but I think it is the strut mounts. There is a TSB on it and I just had mine replaced.

It's really f'd up. I'm going to get Tokico D-specs and also some Steeda end links. I can't beleive the minute amount of looseness of the upper sway mount caused that problem. Amazing...
