Default Good Deal?

Ok So I bought my 2005 V6 roughly 2 weeks ago and I love it!
Thing is when I purchased it I was so excited I thought "I'm getting a steal"
I mean I paid 11,500 for the car.
I figured it has a few little issues that I need to take car of so its not too bad.
But now it seems like its got more than I thought.
A day or two after I brought it home I realized that the "top" or roof of the car had a
dent directly above the drivers side, obviously not to noticible but its there and one
on the same side but toward the back.
Something very weird is, the buttons to the factory radio are like worn out.
I mean it works there is nothing wrong with it. But the paint on the buttons is all chipped off...
I called ford and they said I need a new radio, roughly 400 bucks.
Not to mention it needs new tires. so thats like 400 bucks.
It's got little tiny scratches and dents here and there nothing major but I'm sure its
got a price tag.

Did I get in over my head or is it still a good deal?

I don't see how you can go wrong for that price, sounds like a bargain to me. As far as getting new tires check, New Car Takeoffs .com you'll find what you need real cheap. Enjoy the Stang, and welcome to the Forum.

The car had 57xxx miles on it already. So it was driven quite a bit. It has a shaker 500, cloth seats, power driver seats, locks and windows, I guess the previous owner also added a rear spoiler because I dont think they come standard. It also has the mustang rocker stripes.

I don't know how long till I mod, I really want to give it some fog lights, maybe racing stripes. I don't want to add a new system to it because I'm afraid they would break into it just for that. I think I am going more for apperance than performance. I know its only a V6 but she's got power and I love the way she sounds.

those are just minor thing I would have the engine checked if anything. If you are able to put it up on a lift and check the bottom of it. I would also change the oil right away with synthetic.

if the car was new or if its run syn the whole time then yes (but do you know if they ran good syn or crap dino)
but after a car has a large number of miles on it it might be to late to upgrade to full syn

the dino oil's sulfur and other crap may have damaged seals and if so syn will clean the crap out and then you might have a leak
I would do a test oil change to syn and check for leaks if none then stay with full syn but if there are leaks then you'll have to have the seals and gaskets changed

Congrats on your new purchase, and welcome to MF!!!

The suggestion about getting a new set of "take-off" tires and wheels is a good one. You can get a new set of 17" wheels/tires for about the same price as buying new tires alone. You can sell your old rims (assuming you have the 16" stockers) to offset the cost, or use them to mount up snow tires if that applies to you.

I would suggest taking your new Pony into a mechanic you trust to winterize it. New oil, plugs, fuel filter, and air filter. They can check the brakes and other systems to make sure all is OK. Then you'll have peace of mind.

Unless it has a salvage title, it sounds like a good deal.

Sounds like a good deal to me. It was probably female owned if the radio buttons are worn off--actually seen alot of vehicles like this. Comes from some of the nail treatments they have. Minor scrathes & dents are gonna be on 98% of all vehicles on the road--even show vehicles, it happens. Just a matter of how well you can hide/polish paint. You could go to your dealership & find out who they use for PDR--paintless dent repair to pop out you troubles for probably $100 or less. All in all, I think you are all-right.

Hey you did get deal! But first off, you might have wanted to inspect the car a little bit more before purchasing. Anyways...my stereo buttons started wearing away about a couple months ago. I wouldn't bother replacing it from Ford because it's a rip off. Buy something new for you car. I have a JVC that fits almost perfectly for $250. It plays all types of media, has AUX input, USB input, and more. Tires...you can get a good deal at Les Schwab with a warranty which you can't go wrong there. Take your car to a shop to have the dent pulled if it bothers you too. You got a great deal though! My 2005 V6 Manual, Interior Upgrade Package, Leather seats, upgrade premium stereo system, etc. goes for $16500 on Kelly Blue Book. I wouldn't complain..

Thanks everyone.

The car has a clean title.
I don't think I would of been interested if it was salvaged or prior accidents.

As far as the oil change I had one done before I picked it up from the dealership. I don't know what kind they used but in a few months when i take it in I'll ask if I should try the syn oil. I've had the mechanic look at it already. They say everything on it looks good. The only mechanical thing is that Damn
DTE FLI data error thing. As most of you on here have said I have a bad fuel sending unit. It's the first thing on the list that needs to get checked out.

I thought about putting a system in it, but I'm from San Antonio and we have a semi high
car theft rate. I don't want someone to break into it for the radio. Thats why I wanted to keep the
factory one on.

As far as the tires go, I think I mentioned in a prior post that a friend has a set of rims with tires from his
2007 GT he's offering me for 300 bucks if I give him mine. I'm considering it because one of my rims is missing the little ford hub cap from the middle and because I need new tires.

I'm gonna for sure take it to the dealership to ask about popping the dents.

I took it to the mechanic and asked how much a full tune up would cost and they said that I only need a basic tune up because I'm under 100,000 miles and my wires are good. What does a basic tune up consist of?

Sorry Boys Im a girl and I'm trying to learn what ever I can .
