Default service work???

I just reached my 40,000 kilometer mark on the '05 and found out that the service for it is like 200 bones +. Do I have to take it to the stealership or can I take the list of things to be done to my mechanic, who I have been going to for years, & have him do the servicing for a helluva lot cheaper...then have him record what he has done.

the way i read the scheduled maintenance guide, is
that yes, you can do scheduled maintenance yourself
(or your mechanic) and it would be nice if you
document it (keep your paperwork).
