Default "Check Security System" ??

The status panel in my dash would sporadically show "Check Security System" when I turn on my car ... does anyone know what that means & how I can fix it? Right now I just hit the "Reset"(?) button and it goes away.

In the owners manual there is a section that tells you how to adjust the sensitivity setting on the alarm (you do have the factory alarm right?) If not I have no clue

I'm probably blind .. but I read through the manual when I first got the car and I couldn't find anything on adjusting the (active) factory alarm's sensitivity, nor can I find anything about it searching through the PDF - maybe you can help?:

it means something happened to set off the alarm... mine does it when ever i accidentally hit the panic button instead of the trunk release... if your alarm isn't going off could be a short or sensor goin haywire...
