Bleeder really needed after clutch install?

Bleeder really needed after clutch install?
So lets say you install a new clutch, put the slave cylinder connector back on, etc etc.
At this point the online tutorials tell you to connect the air bleeder to the master cylinder up top.
But if im correct, isnt our clutch a self-adjusting clutch that does not require bleeding? Could someone just do the supposed trick of jacking up the front corner and pumping the clutch pedal slowly for several minutes?
You heard me. Discuss.

RE: Bleeder really needed after clutch install?
The workshop manual from Ford, not an oline tutorial (yuck),
says park it uphill and slowly depress the clutch and release
slowly a few times to bleed the system. There is not even a
bleeder on the clutch assy according to the workshop manual.[:@]

RE: Bleeder really needed after clutch install?
hey ohno, i found this alternate method in
my notes....i'm not sure who the author is....
ALTERNATE METHOD
Start with full reservoir, have someone push clutch pedel down, open bleeder screw
at the slave, close bleeder screw, bring clutch pedel up. Repeat this process until
no more air or or bubbles exit the the bleeder screw and you get a constant flow of
brake fluid. Make sure to keep checking the resevoir for fluid and dont let it run
to low (keep it topped off). Also the bleeder screw is only opened when the pedel
is going down if opened when pedel is going up it will draw air back into the system.
Once the fluid runs clear you should start to fill clutch pressure when pushing the pedel down.
