Roll Cage?
So in my 95 Mustang.. I had put a 4 point roll cage. It made a HUGE differnce in the way the car cornered.. the body just felt so stiff.
I am now considering getting one in my 2007, I like the idea of a 6 point, with removeable door bars and harnes bar like this one..

I havnt seen anything anywhere for the 05+ models, searched on here and just googled it..
Does anyone know where I could get a custom one made here in the Los Angeles area?

Our chassis doesn't benefit greatly with the cage unless you have severely increased performance and suspension. Much of the sn95 chassis problems were corrected in the s197.

I have an 8 point with frame mounts and the swingouts. If you want to retain the rear seats, a 6 point may be better. Pics will give you an idea how it alters the inside. Also get the padding if you live in a hot climate. Metal heats up during a hot day.

If you dont want the gutted race car look just have a chassis shop fabricate a 6-point in chrome moly.
You can retain the rear seats and trim etc. I paid about 2100 dollars to have it done soup to nuts.
You will want a custom one because you can choose how it is laid out then. FYI: The 6-point will be much much more rigid if you dont have removable side bars.

As far as upgrades..
so far I have the FRPP suspension
and the 475hp saleen supercharger kit
I have a 6-point in my vert. Let me tell you that is increased rigidity 100% over stock.
I have no body twist at launch at all. I am getting consistent 1.6 60' times with 100% stock suspension.
I chose to weld all six point and not use swing-out side bars.

I dont even know where to start looking here in LA
I had a local chassis race shop, "Hot Rod Chassis" do mine.
They had done lots of rollbars but not in an S197. Just do a google search on your area (L.A.) and the words rollbar and chassis. You should be able to come up with some shops that specialize in this type of work.
Dont get mild steel. It is softer and requires thicker wall tubing, therefore it weighs more. There are many advantages to getting this work custom fabricated:
- Where the main hoop is anchored
- Where the rear braces are anchored (I still have my seats)
- Angle of rear braces (must be greater than 30 dgrees for NHRA/IHRA
- Shape of the main hoop
- Where the sidebars anchor in front
- Curving harness bar (middle bar) to match seat contour
If you buy some pre-fabricated pile of tubing you are stuck with it just the way it is and you may not like it. This is a permanent structure welded in to your car, you need to be very happy with it once it is done.
